PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Course Details

Float effortlessly, drifting over reefs. Be the diver you want to be, with ultimate buoyancy control!

Buoyancy skills separate the good divers from the great divers. In the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course, you will learn to how to precisely weight yourself for optimum control, poise and balance. You learn to ascend and descend so effortlessly, it seems like you only think about it and it happens. By mastering streamlining, you move through the water cleanly, efficiently and gracefully. You swim near fragile environments without harm to them or yourself.

 

Covered in this Course:

  • Buoyancy fundamentals

  • Weighting and Adjustments

  • Streamlining

  • Balance and Trim

  • Fine Tuning Buoyancy

  • Mastering Hovering

Session One (Class):

  • Class Briefing

  • Paperwork

  • Short Lecture

Approx. Time: 2-3 Hrs

 

Session Two (Open Water):

  • Dive Briefing

  • Dives #1 & #2

  • Review

Approx. Time: 5-10 Hrs
(Depending on whether it's a Beach or Boat Dive Program)

Certification counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

   

PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY CLASS REQUIREMENTS

PREREQUISITE

REQUIRED GEAR

Completion of the PADI Open Water Class or equivalent*.

(Minimum age 12 to Register)

*If your certification is listed below you may qualify to enroll in this PADI Specialty Course at Pacific Wilderness.

The Following Equipment is Required for this Specialty Class:
  • Basic Gear (Purchased in OpenWater)
  • Full SCUBA Gear (Rental Available**)
    • Regulator System
    • B. C.
    • Tank
    • Wetsuit & Hood
    • Weight Belt

    Plus the Following needed for all Specialty Classes:

  • Dive Knife & Slate*
  • Compass*
  • Whistle*
  • Dive Bag for Boat Trips*
  • Safety Sausage*

*Note, this Equipment is Required at ALL Dive Shops and is not included in the Class.

**Full SCUBA Gear is available for Rental at a Package Rate of $60 for the Weekend

FOR COMPLETION

  • Attend Class Session and Complete Assignments.
  • Demonstrate Proficiency in Buoyancy Control
  • Pass Written Exam

Private - Boat Dives Program

BOAT DIVE PROGRAM

 WB01372_.gif (406 bytes)Our most Popular Specialty Program. The Specialty Boat Dives program incorporates about 12 hours of Instruction Customized to your Schedule with Two Supervised Dives to Complete your Specialty Certification.

We recommend this Course to Students for Several Reasons:

  1. The most difficult thing to Master for New Divers is Buoyancy Control - This Course helps you fine tune.
  2. It allows those with Difficult or Varying Work Schedules to take Specialty Classes.
  3. It gives your Group the ability to take a Private Specialty Class with just your Friends at a comparable Price to Standard "Pre-Scheduled" Courses at other shops
  4. This Course has the Most Varied Schedule Available because you set it!
  5. Smaller class sizes mean more Personalized Attention.

To book your own "Private" Class please use the following Outline for time allocations:
  • Session #1 (Class):  - Dedicate 2-3 Hours total time. This may be done in One evening prior to your Dives.
  • Session #2 (Dives) - You will need to Dedicate a Full Day. Our Boat Trips are scheduled a Year in Advance and can be Viewed Here. Look up any "Shop Boat Dive" and use those dates in planning your Schedule. Session normally runs 6:30 am to 5 pm.
