PADI Group OpenWater Course Details

The fun and adventure in diving starts as soon as you begin your OpenWater SCUBA Class at PACIFIC WILDERNESS.  The PADI OpenWater Diver Course is the most popular SCUBA course in the world and we teach it here at PACIFIC WILDERNESS!

Your PADI OpenWater Diver Course is divided into three segments:

  • Lecture – Class Session (s) (Approximately 6-8 Hours Covering Five Chapters)
  • Confined Water  – Pool Session (s) (Approximately 6-8 Hours)
  • Open Water – Open Water Ocean Dives (4 Dives over a Two Day Period)

Each segment is designed to ensure that you learn the skills needed to enjoy diving to the fullest. Listed below are our PADI Open Water Program Options conveniently offered on a year-round basis; this course is your key to an unforgettable underwater adventure you’ll treasure for a lifetime!
ENTRY LEVEL CLASS REQUIREMENTS

 Only the Desire to have Fun and to Learn to Dive!(Minimum age 12 to Register)FOR COMPLETION

  • Attend All Class Sessions and Complete Assignments.
  • Attend All Pool Sessions and Demonstrate Water Skills and ability to Swim.
  • Demonstrate Water Skills in Ocean.
  • Fulfill Written Exam.
  • All Candidates Must be able to Swim
 The Following Equipment is Required for your OpenWater Class:

  • Silicone Dive Mask (Properly fitted)
  • Snorkel
  • Dive Fin with Heel Strap (Properly fitted to your Boots)
  • Neoprene Boots (5mm thickness or more)
  • Neoprene Gloves (2mm thickness or more)

Note, this Equipment is Required “Basic” Gear at ALL Dive Shops and is not included in the Class.  However, if you Purchase all 5 Pieces of this Gear at Pacific Wilderness prior to the start of your class, your PADI OpenWater Class Materials (a $265 Value) will be FREE!  Of Course – All your Basic Gear will be backed by our 30 Day Lowest Price Guarantee!

Should you decide to purchase the Basic Required Gear elsewhere, that’s fine, but you will be held to having properly fitting Basics designed for SCUBA use (Not prepackaged snorkeling sets with wimpy fins).  Additionally, the $265 PADI Materials package will NOT be FREE and will cost you $150.

ALL BEACH DIVES – SATURDAY / SUNDAY CLASS This is our Accelerated program for those of you limited on time. The beach dives program incorporates about 24 hours of Instruction in Class, Pool and Beach Diving Sessions only. Once you Complete all Class, Pool and 4 OpenWater Dives – your Instructor can sign you off.  This Course runs the same as our most Popular Course above, but does not include a Boat Trip (It’s all Beach Dives)t. We recommend this Course for those Students who:

  • Do not have week-nights available for Classes.
  • Wish to complete the Course as Quickly as Possible.
  • Have Excellent Study Habits and will come to the First Class with ALL Chapters Completed.
  • Have Good Watermanship Skills and feel they will Excel in an Accelerated Program.

CLASS & POOL WORK ONLY COMPLETED HERE  Our Referral program is for those of you limited on time or not wishing to Dive in our Beautiful (although Slightly Colder) Local Waters.   The Referral Program incorporates about 15 hours of Instruction focusing only on Class Room and Pool Skills.  You may complete the Final Four Open Water Dives in more Tropical Waters.  Although this class costs less, be aware you will incur expenses at the other end to complete your PADI Open Water Certification.  We would be happy to provide you with the names of PADI Dive Centers located at your destination should you choose this option or you may Click Here for a listing of PADI Resorts. It’s our experience you will pay approximately $175 to $350 to finish your dives elsewhere –  (note “approximately” means just that – whomever you deal with for completion is free to charge any amount).

  • We recommend this Course for those Students who:
  • Do not want to Dive Locally (Though you’re missing out)
  • Are Limited on time and are unable to complete the Regular Class prior to a trip you may have already planned.
